☕ Morning fam,
The state of the city is bleak. CRIME is everybody’s #1 concern, yet the least concern of regional leadership. Guess who are the #1 victims? I’ll wait. And it’s not just that crime is high, criminals are more brazen with the knowledge that Kim Gardner’s office is literally letting people get away with murder. Just last week 2 more murder cases were dropped by the judge who placed the blame on Kim Gardner’s office for withholding evidence, the same thing she just admitted doing in the Greiten’s case. The suspects freed and never can be tried again.

Blacks are fleeing the city in droves, businesses are leaving downtown, public transportation already lacking, is worse due to lack of drivers/riders, bus driver getting shot and Metrolink just had another fatal shooting. There are no good jobs which is why a lot of these folks run because they couldn’t make it in the private sector. If they performed in the private sector the way they do as elected leaders, they would be fired. Local government is the one place they can fail over and over and ever and over again… and still get elected, that’s if you believe the Board of Elections, but that’s a story for another day.

Regional schools have been among the worst in the nation. For years area districts have struggled with accreditation, curriculum and attendance. Schools are closing. Charter schools that were upheld as game changers have closed for a variety of reasons. Those that are left aren’t preparing students for the world they will live in.

Entertainment is limited to sports, events and toys for tourists and suburbanites, not residents. The only way residents attend is on the clock, serving people that don’t live in the city and only come to play.

St. Louis cannot survive like this. The region cannot survive like this. Everybody knows what needs to happen but no one trusts anyone for good reason, they have shown themselves to be untrustworthy.

St. Louis is stuck in the 1950s. The region is its own worst enemy, regional leaders can’t get out their own way. Corruption, nepotism and secret deals have rotted the region to it’s core.

Black Girl Magic will not save St. Louis, but their unforced errors and self inflicted wounds gives folks faces to blame. Yes, all the problems existed before they got there, but they made them worse.
