☕ Morning fam,
Wanna expound upon a great question I was asked in the comment section in one of the posts on my personal profile. It got me thinking about conversations I have offline, in the real world. Everyday. And before I get into this I gotta add a disclaimer and a trigger alert.
The disclaimer is that I have this same exact conversation everyday, offline in the real world. And my response is the same as what I’m about share here.
I’m a issuing a trigger alert because what I’m about to say goes against the preachings of the Dem Party or as Joe Biden put it, if you don’t for him, “You ain’t black”. Let’s start there. The days of Dems owning black people are over. Slavery was abolished in 1865. They don’t own us or our votes. And they don’t get to dictate our blackness. Even if I were inclined to vote for Dems, Joe Biden’s comment would have made me walk away from the party had I not walked away after Obama’s first term.
Dems have really done a number on us. Got a lotta us thinking we’re a monolith. All the same because we all share black skin, nevermind we don’t all have the same experiences, values or morals. Yet we are expected to vote the same… based entirely on skin color and none of the other factors.
We’re also expected to vote with other groups 1. Based on us all not being white. Nevermind we are culturally different, speak different languages and worship different. And 2. With groups based on their sexual preference and/or identity… based on what? I’m serious, let me know if you know.
We vote for ever other group/issue over our own interests. And when we refuse our own have been conditioned to turn against us. This has been black politics for the past 75 years.
And it stops with us.
