☕ Morning fam,
Crime is not down. 2 weeks ago my cousin was murdered in a hit and run. This morning my aunt woke up to find her car stolen. A harsh reality of city life, neither will be solved. Kim Gardner couldn’t be less bothered. And Team Tishaura keeps telling us things are getting better while they’re getting progressively worse.
My cousin was killed in a hit and run. She leaves 3 daughters and 2 young sons. No arrests. Their young lives will never be the same.
I convinced my aunt to move into the city from the county. Less than a month, her car is stolen and the only viable transportation she had to get to work and care for my disabled niece stolen.
Lives shattered, in both instances, more than likely by someone who should have been locked up but wasn’t. In the name of ‘reform’. And so city leaders can say jails are less full and crime is down. While lives are being taken and/or destroyed.
As I write this my aunt is waiting for police to arrive, IF they they arrive. This might be one of those cases where they just write a report over the phone and keep it moving.
Will keep y’all posted…
