Gone are the days the region would tout high voter turnout resulting from some voter registration drive that brought out record turnout to vote for more of the same. Memba hearing how city voters came out in huge numbers to reelect Francis Slay over and over and over and over again? Or how about county voters voting for Bob McCulloch to serve as many as 30 years? Now the headlines try to present a win in one of the lowest voter turnouts in decades as a mandate when the reality is the feds are here, a federal investigation into city and county governments has resulted in the indictment of the President of the Board of Aldermen and 2 aldermen.
People have no faith in city or county governments or any of their institutions, especially the ones that keep them in power.
