☕ Morning fam,
Juneteenth. Most in my feed either purposely didn’t acknowledge the federal holiday or did, but only to chime in about the Dem co-option of it to give the illusion of a win and support for blacks at a time most blacks are feeling the pain of high inflation, high gas prices and high crime/record homicides, not to mention don’t want to be targets for lone white dudes trying to recreate Tops shooting or get shot, robbed or carjacked by the Pookies and Ray Rays that have been given free reign to terrorize the community by Kim Gardner. Or get caught in the crossfire of armed citizens or killed as an innocent bystander in a police chase.
Nobody’s entertaining the noise about Cure Violence, violence interrupters or social workers. And no one has faith in the Mayor’s crime plan having stretched thin, overworked police work 12 hour shifts, taking who knows what to stay awake, making an already dangerous situation that much worse and potentially opening the city up for lawsuits and liability for the errors and mistakes made because officers were overworked. We don’t even get good policing when they’re fully rested, so imagine. This is another example of a short sighted, not well thought out, reactionary response to crime with very foreseeable consequences by a mayor who seems more concerned with appeasing the failed activist community than keeping the community safe.
The mayor and activist community underestimate where ‘We the People’ are with “reform”. Reform failed so badly and produced such devastating adverse results, people are done. The only reform people are interested in at this point, is reform that will come by way of more federal indictments, the removal of regional leaders and rescinding of progressive policies that made every issue we’re facing worse.
It’s not reform if it doesn’t work, you cannot point to tangible success or it makes a bad situation worse. Yet this is the hill the Mayor Jones is choosing to die on.
So be it.
