☕ Morning fam,
Woke this morning to quite a few text messages informing me that Coolio died… He died of cardiac arrest and was found by a friend. I’m saddened, hip hop is at the age where we start to lose icons, rappers whose music was the soundtracks to much of our youth. Coolio is the latest in a long line of artists we lost over the past several years. Hip hop was young when we lost, Tupac, Biggie, Big L, Freaky Tah and Grandmaster Jay. We were young, we looked at death very different than than we do today. Don’t get me wrong, we were sad, those deaths were violent and shook hip hop to its core. We were young with our whole lives in front of us… and able to shake em off. When you’re young you feel invincible. As you get older, with each natural death comes a renewed awareness of our own mortality… and that of those we are still blessed to have among us.
Today no one cares about the controversies. Today we are saddened that he’s gone. #ShouldntTakeDeath #RIPCoolio
