☕ Morning fam,
What do Ketanji Jackson Brown, Clarence Thomas, Kamala Harris and Barack Obama have in common? They were all selected by others and imposed on us as ‘first black’ and ‘first black woman’ leaders, when nothing could be further from the truth.
None are pro black. Neither are ‘black centered’ or subscribe to a ‘black first’ ideology. And as we’ve seen with Obama, being married to a black spouse is does not mean ‘for black people’. Clarence never embraced his blackness. Barack told us he wasn’t the president of black people.
Kamala tolu us “Noooooooooo”, she wasn’t gonna do anything specifically for black people. Ketanji is Biden’s token pick, another meaningless symbol. Much ado has been made about her not being able to define the word woman. The fact that she can’t/won’t is very insightful, considering she IS a woman and Biden’s only requirements were ‘black’ and now ‘woman’. Black first, then woman.
They are all propped us as ‘black’ first, meaning the color of their skin, not ideology. What is a woman can be easily defined, the question we should be pondering is “What is black”?
