Karmelo Anthony was convicted of murdering Austin Metcalf and sentenced to 35 years in prison. But newly revealed evidence from proceedings surrounding his request for a new trial has exposed disturbing messages involving violence, threats toward women—and derogatory statements about Black women.
Now some of the very people who once defended Anthony are reconsidering their support.
But that raises a much bigger question:
Why did it take discovering what Karmelo thought about Black women for some people to reconsider whether he deserved their racial solidarity?
