Why are so many men—especially young men—disconnected from the church?
Maybe we need to stop simply asking **where the men are** and start asking **what kind of Christ and Christianity we’re presenting to them.**
Too often, Jesus is presented as passive, soft and unwilling to confront anything. But that’s not the complete biblical picture.
Jesus showed compassion, mercy and love—but He also **flipped tables, confronted hypocrisy, challenged religious leaders and stood before political power without bowing to it.
If churches want more men in the pews, **men need to see biblical masculinity coming from the pulpit**: discipline, courage, responsibility, sacrifice, accountability, leadership, self-control and obedience to God.
And we also need to ask a harder question: **What would Jesus do if He walked through some of our communities today?**
When communities are struggling, children are dying, families are breaking apart and elected officials are failing the people they represent, would Jesus be organizing political fundraisers for them? Would He be afraid to challenge them because He wanted political access?
Jesus recognized Caesar’s authority, but He never worshipped Caesar. Standing before Pontius Pilate, He declared:
“Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above.” — John 19:11 KJV
The church should not be an extension of a political party. The church should be willing to speak truth to power—regardless of who holds that power.
We don’t need macho Christianity, and we don’t need passive Christianity.
We need covenant men.
Men who pray. Men who build. Men who protect. Men who provide. Men who mentor boys. Men who love their families. Men who control their appetites. Men who serve their communities. Men who aren’t afraid to stand for righteousness.
Pastors: if you want men back in church, give men the whole Christ.**
