Analysis: South Africans apathetic over general election vote

South Africans are casting their ballots Wednesday in an election seen as their country’s most important in three decades. The ruling party, the African National Congress, is facing criticism for its failure to improve living standards. Half of the population who live in poverty have expressed their frustrations about high crime and the lack of jobs and don’t believe elections will bring change. For more on how apathy is affecting the South African elections as well as voter concerns,  VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Marisa Lourenço, a South Africa political analyst.
