Fanbase, the Atlanta-based social media startup founded by Isaac Hayes III, has raised over $12.7 million through equity crowdfunding, aiming to reach a $17 million goal while democratizing ownership in social media.
In 2024, Hayes became the first Black man to raise $10 million in a seed round via equity crowdfunding, empowering everyday people—starting at just $3.99—to invest in the platform.
Driven by a mission to ensure Black creators are compensated for their cultural influence, Hayes credits community support, Black economic collaboration, and mentorship for Fanbase’s growing success.
This is what a capitalist, mixed economic system creates, successful Black business ownership, not owned by the government, unlike economic systems of other countries … time to appreciate what we have helped to build … a country with many freedoms. So many freedoms that people die to get here by any means necessary and who will fight and protest to stay here., without regard to the burden they put on the services that legal citizens gave and give their lives to provide … but I digress … I’m so very proud of Isaac Hayes III …
