You were ELECTED, SELECTED, CHOSEN, AND MOST DESIRED by the majority to be the city’s Chief Executive.
At the onset, I just knew you would be a SERVANT to the people.
We have FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS that stand proudly upon their STATEMENTS: mission, vision, goals, objectives, strategies, values but totally disregard a certain BLACK population like we aren’t devoted voters, high tax payers, invisible, ignorant and illiterate but we aren’t.
Why is it that even under your leadership, we are facing unprecedented spikes in gun violence that leads to violent crimes?
Why even under your leadership we are facing still generational poverty, oppression, lack, pain and watch generational and intergenerational poverty, hurt and harm of which cause early demise of our children?
We used to hate that word because it was demeaning, hurtful, oppressive and given the wrong vibes. SERVANTS are public servants who are civic leaders for change, revolution, justice, and equity.
You SELECT, CHOOSE, AND APPOINT and REMOVE, DEMOTE AND FIRE those who are over city agencies: police, fire, education, sanitation, health and how we are able to live our the LIFE, LIBERTY AND PURSUITS TOWARDS HAPPINESS FOR US.
You Mayor Jones have the power of the: pen, and bully pulpit to get change, justice, goodness, right, dignity, humane treatment and what the people thought they were voting for.
You have one goal and that is to make sure your residents are happy, healthy and whole.
I am not a resident but you and others like you are are wasted BLACK face. I saw them stomp for your. I saw them swell with pride for you. I saw them honor you. I saw them cheer you on. I saw them do whatever needed to put you in this office and to do what? Have a WASTED BLACK FACE?
What is a WASTED BLACK FACE? It is BLACK people in positions of power, influence, prestige, and influence.
YOU should be the standard, model, example, patter, goal, and template that our younger people can follow but if that mean denying, rejecting, excluding, defunding, and disrespecting your own people, your future THAT is WASTED BLACK FACE. What have you done collectively for BLACK children as the center of your politics? In what way have you PROTECTED BLACK children with your policies?
As a BLACK WOMAN of leadership that have the experience, education, exposure and social circles, I thought you had the obligation to do the opposite of what I am seeing, hearing and feeling.
Is this what BLACK MISLEADERSHIP LOOKS LIKE?
Back in 2018, you had no reserve in CALLING FOR ACTION when the then Alderman Jeff Boyd (Another WASTED BLACK FACE) was suing your office, you were summoned to stand and testify in front of his committee and I came supporting you, I was 100.
You then, stated that it was a waste of time and taxpayer dollars and I believed you, had faith in you, thought you were different from the other actors.
I recall you then showing much concern about the unhoused, crime being out of control due to tax giveaways and I am asking, what is the difference between you and Lie De KrewSin?
The condescension in bad governance is seen, felt and clearly understood by your constituents who VOTED for you in good faith, in great pride and undeniable hope in a brighter future because after all, YOU ARE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN.
We can’t be faulted when we get frustrated in our elected leaders because we don’t elect you to hurt, harm, endanger, ignore, despise, and cause our early demise like the enemy.
No, we elect you to elevate, represent and make change happen for us all and we don’t get it while our votes are needed, coveted, expected, and mocked.
I refuse to waste my vote for this “collective power” notion because NO my ancestors didn’t die for my right to vote.
THEY WERE KILLED by attempting to vote and get policies changed so we could freely exercise our right to vote and they are not one and the same.
When BIG MONEY is involved in which candidate will win, of course we poor will never have a voice no matter how many seats are at the table with WASTED BLACK FACES in them.
America have always been one corrupt, immoral, unjust, illegal, dehumanizing place but today, I know for damn sure our ancestors didn’t envision you and other Blacks in positions of “perceived” power that was granted what they only wish to treat, see, feel and wield for their future and culture what you all do and have done.
You speak of your son a lot to make a point but yet you refuse to ERADICATE those 1800’s policies, rules, codes, mandates, legislation that will prey upon, hunt, and cause his early demise?
YOU HAVE THE POWER.
YOU HAVE THE PEN.
YOU HAVE THE AUTHORITY.
YOU HAVE THE CHOICE.
YOU ARE THE FACE.
YOU ARE THE REASON WHAT WE ARE SEEING WITHIN THE COMMUNITY IS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN, IT IS YOUR INACTIVITY, IT IS YOUR WILL.
As an educator who genuinely cares, MY HEART IS BROKEN!
I spoke these words on your behalf as a mom, as a resident of the Black community and as a teacher and well……
“WOMEN, IF THE SOUL OF THE NATION IS TO BE SAVED, I BELIEVE YOU MUST BECOME ITS SOUL.” CORETTA SCOTT KING
“LIKE SLAVERY AND APARTHEID, POVERTY IS NOT NATURAL. IT IS MAN-MADE AND CAN BE OVERCOME AND ERADICATED BY THE ACTIONS OF HUMAN BEINGS.” NELSON MANDELA
“IF THE SOCIETY TODAY ALLOWS WRONGS TO GO UNCHALLENGED, THE IMPRESSION IS CREATED THAT THOSE WRONGS HAVE THE APPROVAL OF THE MAJORITY.” BARBARA JORDAN
“NOBODY IS AS POWERFUL AS WE MAKE THEM OUT TO BE.” ALICE WALKER
“WOMEN NEED TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER. “EACH TIME A WOMAN STANDS UP FOR HERSELF, WITHOUT KNOWING IT POSSIBLY, WITHOUT CLAIMING IT, SHE STANDS UP FOR ALL WOMEN.” DR. MAYA ANGELOU
“WOMEN IN THIS COUNTRY MUST BECOME REVOLUTIONARIES. WE MUST REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE OLD, THE TRADITIONAL ROLES AND STEREOTYPES. WE MUST REPLACE THE OLD, NEGATIVE THOUGHTS ABOUT OUR FEMINIITY WITH POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND POSITIVE ACTIONS AFFIRMING IT, AND MORE. BUT WE MUST ALSO REMEMBER THAT WE WILL BE BREAKING WITH TRADITION, AND SO WE MUST PREPARE OURSELVES EDUCATIONALLY, ECONOMICALLY, AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY IN ORDER THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO ACCEPT AND BEAR WITH THE SANCTIONS THAT SOCIETY WILL IMMEDIATLEY IMPOSE UPON US.” SHIRLEY CHISHOLM
“WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WANTED ME TO RECONCILE MYSELF TO. I WAS BORN HERE MORE THAN 60 YEARS AGO. I’M NOT GOING TO LIVE ANOTHER 6O YEARS. YOU ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT IT’S GOING TO TAKE TIME. IT’S TAKEN MY FATHER’S TIME, MY MOTHER’S TIME, MY UNCLE’S TIME, MY BROTHERS’ AND MY SISTERS’ TIME, MY NIECES AND MY NEPHEW’S TIME. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU WANT FOR YOUR PROGRESS?” JAMES BALDWIN
