I Listened to this mother on the news yesterday talk about how she is ostracized and vilified for turning in her son for plotting to shoot up his school on the anniversary of the Columbine massacre.
*scratches head*
What stood out to me was her tearful, “IT WASN’T EAST!”
I thought, I reflected.
I smiled as I began to hear one of my BEST TEACHERS in my undergraduate experience at EIU by the name of Dr. Carolyn Woolever.
She was my Family and Consumer Science teacher.
She was soft.
She was loving.
She was kind.
She was loyal.
She was genuine.
She was a revolutionary.
She was compassionate.
She was confident in the woman she was.
She was my FAVE!
She was just simply amazing and I LOVED HER AND SHE LOVED ME.
I recall her saying that if your children have no one in their corner, they should have their mother.
NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO, their mom should always be their CHAMPION.
Me in my ignorance, I began to give scenarios of when the time wasn’t appropriate to be such a CHAMPION because I knew then our worlds were polar opposities.
I said, after all you have done and they go to jail, I am STILL supposed to show up, put money on the books, be there unconditionally?
SHE REPLIED EMPAHTICALLY, YES.
I am not the same woman I was while sitting her her amazing tutelage.
I don’t even want to see the world as she sees it.
I know that she knew that we lived in 2 Americas but didn’t want to embrace it.
I know that she knew that this place would not treat me as a doting mom the same way they would treat her as a doting mom.
So, I after hearing Nicole’s tearful interview, I knew I had to write.
She embodied White women beliefs.
She articulated clearly how they raise these entitled, insolent, unjust, racist terrors.
She revealed how their children run the house and relationships.

OUR CHILDREN HAVE BEEN CONVINCED THAT ALL THAT OUR ANCESTORS DID WAS ABUSIVE, TOXIC AND OTHER THINGS THAT GOT THEM IN THE SITUATION THEY ARE IN NOW AND ARE STAGNANT AND SEEING AN AMERICA THAT DOES NOT SEEE THEM AS FREE, THAT IS NOT TREATING THEM AS FREE AND THAT IS NOT TOUCHING LAWS TO LIBERATE THEM.
WE MUST DO, UNDO AND REDO OR LEARN, UNLEARN AND RELEARN TO SAVE AND PRESERVE OUR PEOPLE AND CULTURE.
WHITE MOMS:
Protect wrong doing
Prevent accountability
Oppose responsibility
Fight for immorality
Save from maltreatment
Embody malpractice
Preserve wrongdoings
Allow injustice
Consent to racism

I recall having this conversation with my son and told him my mom (HELL, A BLACK MOM) will turn your ass in and tell them where you are or drive them to you.
WE KNOW WE RAISED YOU BETTER AND WE ALSO KNOW WE HAVE NEVER HAD THE SAME RIGHTS AS WHITE MOTHERS WITH OUR CHILDREN.
