Regional leaders are scrambling trying to give the appearance that they are in control and everything is okay in the aftermath of Kim Gardner’s abrupt resignation. Nobody saw it coming. The transition plan was a rushed hand written note turning the powers of her office to Wesley Bell, a prosecutor in another jurisdiction cosigned by the mayor and from the looks of it without input from the Board of Aldermen.
The fact that Gardner thought that’s how the process to name her successor works is unbelievable. And that the mayor and county prosecutor went along with it, mindboggling. And is the best evidence of Kim Gardner’s incompetence and questionable judgement of Mayor Jones and Wesley Bell currently in the media trying to finesse his way into Circuit Attorney’s Office.
No plan for the fallout in the aftermath of Kim Gardner’s resignation, changing power dynamic or the black power structure in St. Louis relinquishing yet another position, this time to the General Counsel of Republican Gov Parsons.
And they swear this is winning.
