Last summer, Senegalese fisherman Birane Mbaye and his friend Omar Seck left Senegal aboard a crowded wooden fishing boat, seeking a better future in the Canary Islands. But the voyage was hit by disaster, and Mbaye returned alone. David Doyle of Reuters has more.
