In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, but the storm was only the beginning of the tragedy. For many Black families and communities, the real disaster came in the days that followed – when help didn’t arrive, when rescue efforts failed them, and when they were abandoned in their greatest hour of need.
This video honors the voices and experiences of those who lived through this unimaginable ordeal. We share their stories not to reopen wounds, but to ensure their truth is heard and their suffering is never forgotten.
Through firsthand accounts and documented evidence, we examine how systemic failures and racial disparities turned a natural disaster into a human catastrophe that disproportionately impacted Black communities.
These are stories of survival, resilience, and the strength of the human spirit in the face of abandonment. Every person deserves dignity, safety, and equal protection – especially in times of crisis.
We remember. We honor. We learn.
Please share your thoughts respectfully in the comments. This is a space for meaningful dialogue and remembrance.
