For nearly 30 years, the world was left without answers to one of the music industry’s biggest tragedies—the killing of Tupac Shakur. Following a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996, Suge Knight, head of Death Row Records, was driving with Shakur. While Knight’s BMW was stopped at a red light, a Cadillac pulled up beside them and sprayed the car with bullets before speeding off. The hip-hop legend was hit multiple times and died six days later. No one was ever charged with a crime in connection to Shakur’s murder until 2023, when Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a self-described former gang leader, was indicted. Davis is currently on trial for Shakur’s murder, and Court TV’s Cody Thomas joins “Forbes True Crime” to discuss what’s been happening in the courtroom.
