Minnesota’s massive Feeding Our Future fraud scandal just took another shocking turn.
Federal prosecutors have charged Fahima Mohammud, whose daycare allegedly received over $1 million in fraudulent meal reimbursements during the pandemic. Authorities say she claimed to serve meals to 1,000 children per day — but the money trail doesn’t stop there.
State records show her daycare, Future Leaders Early Learning Center, received a staggering $3.7 million in Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) funds in a single year, totaling $10.2 million over four years — making it the highest recipient in Minnesota.
But it gets even more concerning.
Mohammud also incorporated what became the Minneapolis Autism Center, which received nearly $469,000 in public funds. Ownership transfers, name changes, and licensing shifts raise even more questions.
After closing her daycare in January, Mohammud was arrested just weeks later — allegedly after booking a flight out of the country.
Then, in a stunning twist, a new childcare center reopened at the same location the very next day under a nearly identical name: Leaders Childcare Center. The new operator moved a previously dormant daycare license to the site. State officials say there were prior license violations — but not fraud.
