Lindsey Graham’s Senate Seat, Charlie Kirk Hearing & What’s Next For America

Two moments that history will remember. Today’s Disturbing the Peace episode covers both. Pastor John Amanchukwu welcomes Shane Winnings — chairman and CEO of Promise Keepers, former United States Army Special Forces lieutenant, Afghanistan combat veteran, former police officer, and one of the most recognizable young conservative Christian voices in America with over a million social media followers — for a substantive on-the-ground firsthand report from the Charlie Kirk murder trial preliminary hearing. Shane sat twenty feet behind Tyler Robinson in the courtroom. He watched the security footage for the first time on the courtroom screen. He describes the moment full-body chills went through him as he realized Charlie had just finished preaching the gospel and was answering a question in good faith with no idea what was walking up the stairs behind him.
Shane and John then confront the growing information problem the trial has revealed. As Shane puts it in one of the sharpest lines of the recent DTP run: “Only in 2026 can you have a murder on camera, a confession note, confession texts, a confession to a lover, and DNA — and it not be believed.” They walk through why the people who are alleged to be part of a “conspiracy” — Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA — are the ones asking for full public transparency of every piece of evidence, while the people defending the accused murderer are the ones fighting to keep the confession tape, security footage, notes, and texts hidden from the public. They also address, with theological seriousness, the growing willful disbelief that no amount of evidence seems to overcome. “We’re seeing a willful turning away from what’s in front of us. Because the world — and America specifically — believes that because you can’t always trust the government, you can never trust anyone in authority. And that is a much deeper issue than any one trial.”
Then the second half of the episode confronts news that shocked Washington and South Carolina overnight — the sudden death of United States Senator Lindsey Graham. John walks through what is known so far, President Trump’s genuinely emotional public reaction (“he was like a member of the family to me”), Trump’s public recommendation that Governor Henry McMaster appoint Graham’s sister Darlene to serve as interim senator until January 2027, and what Governor McMaster is expected to announce by 4 PM today. John then delivers what may be the most substantive theological reflection on death and preparation on Christian YouTube this week — anchored in James 4:14 (“For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeared for a little time and then vanishes away”) and Hebrews 9:27 (“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”) — with a personal reflection on his own recent Sunday hearing his father-in-law Bishop Patrick Lane Wooden Sr. preach and the reminder every believer needs to hear: the question is not how long you will live. The question is: are you ready to meet God?
