On June 14, 2026, officers from the Senatobia Police Department and the Tate County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shoplifting call at a Walmart in Senatobia, Mississippi. The alleged crime: a box of diapers.
What followed was the death of a one-year-old child.
The state’s own account acknowledges officers saw two women and a baby getting into that car before a single shot was fired. They knew Kohen was there. They fired anyway.
Cellphone footage obtained by Fox 13 Memphis shows the car driving away from police — not toward them. A witness watched officers chase the car on foot before hearing gunshots. Photos of the vehicle show bullet holes on the passenger side — where Kohen’s mother was sitting holding her son.
The officer has not been identified. He was placed on administrative leave.
Walmart is “saddened” and cooperating with law enforcement.
