Pastor Stephen Broden says Chad O. Jackson worships a “white Jesus,” attends a “white church,” married a “white girl,” receives affirmation from white people and is being spoon-fed information by mysterious “handlers.”
Those are serious accusations—especially coming from a Christian pastor.
So rather than simply trading insults, I want to ask a much more important question:
What does the Bible say?
Does Scripture teach that a black Christian becomes spiritually suspect because he worships alongside white Christians? Does marrying a white believer demonstrate hatred for your own people? Is criticizing destructive behavior within your own ethnic community evidence of self-hatred—or can biblical love actually require telling people the truth?
And what happens when racial solidarity begins functioning as a test of Christian authenticity?
In this episode of Unshakable with April Chapman, I’m responding to Pastor Broden’s claims about Chad Jackson, Christianity, race, Martin Luther King Jr., capitalism, the Civil Rights Movement and black conservatives—and putting the entire argument underneath the authority of Scripture.
