In this broadcast, Uncle D (Dennis Spurling) breaks down how socialist, communist, Black radical, Pan-African, and foreign-influence frameworks worked their way into Black American political thought—and why Foundational Black Americans must become more politically astute and historically aware.
This discussion does not deny the reality of racism, inequality, redlining, urban renewal, segregation, police abuse, or systemic exclusion. The point is sharper than that: Black Americans must understand who shaped the language we use, where these ideas came from, how foreign adversaries have exploited America’s racial contradictions, and why Black people cannot afford to be used as a political weapon by anyone—foreign or domestic.
Uncle D also examines the role of Black radical leaders, Caribbean-born intellectuals, the Communist Party, the Black Belt Theory, Marcus Garvey’s “Back to Africa” movement, and the conflict between Garvey and the FBA Talented Tenth. The larger question is simple: Are Black Americans thinking strategically for our own long-term survival, or are we repeating narratives that weaken our ability to build power here at home?
This episode challenges anti-American reflexes, romanticized foreign ideologies, distrust of Black excellence, and the idea that critique alone equals progress. The goal is not just to criticize systems. The goal is to secure a future.
