In this video I break down the C. Anthony Muse incident that Spotlight on Maryland (FOX45) exposed in Annapolis’s Eastport neighborhood. Surveillance video shows Muse maneuvering his Land Rover Defender for nearly FIVE MINUTES — at one point perpendicular to the curb — before hitting a parked car, leaving the scene, and landing partly on a sidewalk against a tree that got bent clean over. Homeboy was toast. There’s NO way he only had “one drink.”
So how did he skate? He told Annapolis police he’d had a single drink, waited around, and let SOMEONE ELSE drive his SUV home. No field sobriety test. No breathalyzer. No tow. No arrest. Police first claimed there was “no crime that required an investigation” — then said officers never saw him in the driver’s seat, until Spotlight handed them video showing exactly that.
I walk through what a NORMAL person faces in Maryland: an admission of drinking plus a moderate smell of alcohol is all police need to investigate, and you don’t even have to be moving to be charged. A criminal defense attorney confirms these investigations almost always move forward. So why not here?
This is “rules for thee, but not for me” in broad daylight — and it’s why people have lost faith in the system.
