Jasmine Crockett Is What ‘Not That Bad’ Looks Like. I sat on a panel where the question on the table was whether our community has lost its way, and one brother looked everybody in the eye and said it’s not that bad, people make it out to be worse than it is. Live from the patio, I’m taking that one sentence apart for the whole show, because “not that bad” is the most dangerous thing you can say about a problem you refuse to look at. Either you genuinely cannot see how far things have slid, or you can see it and you’re comfortable with it, and I’m walking through why both of those are a problem and which one I think is worse. Then I’m going straight to the example that landed this same week: a sitting Congresswoman, Jasmine Crockett, walking out on stage at the Chris Brown concert in Arlington on September 12 to hand out a congressional recognition, and the way she showed up and carried herself while she did it. That is not a random fan in the crowd. That is the standard for who represents us, and it is exactly what “not that bad” looks like when it has a title in front of its name. I’m covering what we promote and celebrate versus what we claim to want, why the people who say it’s not that bad are usually the ones benefiting from it staying that way, the difference between ignorance and complicity, and what accountability looks like when it starts at home instead of pointing outward. Watching live is free for everybody, but once this stream ends the replay goes members-only — the only way to catch it free is to be in the room while it’s live. The Angryman does not do the “not that bad” routine, and if you’ve been watching The Angryman for any length of time you know the standard is the standard. Pull up a chair on the patio, get in the roll call, and let’s finish the conversation the panel wouldn’t.
