Keisha Lance Bottoms is on track to make history as Georgia’s first Black woman governor. So why is Tim Black calling BS on her?
Asked where she stands on data center tax breaks, Bottoms gave a familiar dodge: “we don’t have enough information… we need a pause.” Tim doesn’t buy it — and he lays out 10 plain reasons the data center boom is a raw deal for working people: higher electricity bills, water depletion and contamination, blackouts, noise, minimal permanent jobs, and lost tax revenue that shifts the burden onto residents and schools — plus the environmental injustice of dumping these facilities in Black and Latino neighborhoods.
This is the segment that’ll get Tim called a hater, a sellout, a “raccoon” — and that’s exactly the point. Voting on skin color alone, instead of on who actually protects your air, your water, and your paycheck, is how communities get played. Tim makes the bigger-picture case for electoral politics rooted in material interests, not symbolism — the same fight he’s raised about Wes Moore right here in Maryland.
She’ll probably be your governor. The question is whether she’ll be honest about this.
