Despite large protests and Democratic leaders like Hillary Clinton pushing the comparison to Floyd to condemn the Trump administration, Ries says broader public opinion has shifted since 2020 and the attempt “just hasn’t come to pass.” She argues video evidence showing context around the confrontation and heightened distrust of left-wing narratives are undercutting efforts to turn Good’s death into a symbolic national rallying point. The debate reflects ongoing national tensions over immigration enforcement, public safety, and how protests are framed politically by both sides.
That shift in public sentiment has coincided with ICE enforcement continuing at full force, despite ongoing demonstrations and political pressure. Across the country, ICE agents are still carrying out ICE raids, ICE arrests, and ICE immigration raids targeting illegal immigrants, including migrants accused of crimes or resisting arrest. ICE agents arresting immigrants in 2025 have emphasized that enforcement operations will not be paused due to protests, as ICE arresting illegal immigrants remains a core federal responsibility tied to public safety and immigration law.
As anti-ICE protests persist, ICE police and ICE agents continue arresting and deporting illegal immigrants through ICE deportation efforts, with immigration arrests occurring nationwide. Federal officials maintain that ICE raids and ICE arresting immigrants are focused on individuals who entered the country illegally or violated immigration laws, regardless of political backlash. The ongoing ICE immigration operations underscore a broader clash between activist movements and the federal government’s stated commitment to enforcing immigration law amid continued illegal immigration.
