A Black American contractor believes Corporations are playing us competing against undocumented labor that corporations hire under the table, with no PPE requirements, no OSHA compliance, no workers’ rights.
Tim Black watched his father work construction for his entire childhood. When his father started, that industry was 60-70% Black workers. By the time Tim grew up, it had flipped — 70% Latino, 10% Black. That didn’t happen by accident. Black workers were systematically pushed out of one of the few blue-collar industries where a man with a strong back and work ethic could build a middle-class life without a college degree.
This isn’t about blaming immigrants. It’s about corporations that deliberately exploit undocumented labor to suppress wages and eliminate the need to follow safety and employment laws — while Congress turns a blind eye.
We built this country. We should be building it still.
