"YOU PEOPLE" Search: Got my OWN mic, stage, key, seat & door! by Marshata Caradine

Mrs. Rev. Dr. Patricia Wise

She was the solution
She was the answer
She was the key
She was the problem solver to rid crime, idle minds and violence.

She was known

She was respected

She was quiet

She was the backbone of Skate King

Tucked away in a cultasac on was Skate King.

She gave my son his first real job, he learned social skills, communication skills, time management, patience and a work ethic.

He got a chance to see his peers outside of the traditional school setting and redirecting their misbehaving, corrected inappropriate language and was the example on the weekends of what could be.

This experience taught him how to speak up for himself, how to carry himself around professionals and how to represent himself and learn who he is and wanted to become.

This place was a place for the community, the children as well as the adults to meet, greet, mingle, strategize, share and learn our roles within the community.

She had days from 1-92 to gather, be communal, lay aside weights and pick up skates or just peruse the circulate shape space and understand that nothing is new under the sun and we are all needed in this village but the children are center.

Yeah, Skate King is because of the vision of the Wise for the young people to appreciate, enjoy and learn a skill, craft and sport.

Thanks Dr. Wise!
