On June 14, Kohen Wiley was killed in an officer-involved shooting outside a Walmart in Senatobia, Mississippi. Police were responding to a shoplifting call. According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, a vehicle moved toward an officer before shots were fired. The child’s mother, who has not been charged, disputes that account and says she lifted her baby to show officers he was in the car. The officer who fired is on administrative leave, the investigation is ongoing, and attorney Ben Crump is now representing the family.
Amania does not pretend to have every answer, and she grieves this child openly.
