In this episode, we discuss one of the most sensitive and important conversations happening within Black America today: identity. From FBA and ADOS to Soulann, Moors, Hebrews, Indians, Black American, African American, and Pan-African identity, more people are questioning what we should call ourselves, where we come from, and what history we should claim.
Is this an identity crisis, or is it a deeper search for truth, belonging, lineage, and self-definition? For generations, Black people in America have had names placed on them, removed from them, politicized, debated, and redefined. Now, many are taking ownership of the conversation and asking whether the labels we inherited still serve us.
This discussion is not about disrespecting anyone’s chosen identity. It is about asking real questions. Why are so many Black Americans looking for new names? What role does slavery, lost ancestry, DNA testing, religion, migration, nationalism, and connection to Africa play in this conversation? And how do we move forward with clarity without creating more division?
Danfo curates intentional travel experiences across Africa for people who want more than tourism. We create experiences rooted in culture, history, connection, and discovery for the African diaspora and beyond.
