This Sunday on People Before Politics, we’re discussing the controversy surrounding Democratic congressional nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier and the remarks she made about America’s veterans that have sparked outrage across New York.
Our special guest is Kevin C. Meggett, Founder and CEO of Veteran Action Now, to discuss why the organization organized a July 4 press conference condemning Chevalier’s remarks, including statements describing veterans as “child murderers” and accusing them of committing “war crimes.” Chevalier has since publicly stated that she regrets those comments.
We’ll discuss what this controversy means for veterans, military families, and voters, and whether someone seeking public office should be held to a higher standard when speaking about the men and women who served this nation.
Join Damon K. Jones, A.J. Woodson, and Larnez Kinsey this Sunday at 6:00 p.m. for another important conversation on People Before Politics—where we put people before politics.
