"YOU PEOPLE" Search: Got my OWN mic, stage, key, seat & door! by Marshata Caradine

No Keys

“To me, the black black woman is our essential mother, the blacker she is the more us she is and to see the hatred that is turned on her is enough to make me despair, almost entirely, of our future as a people.” Alice Walker

Wiping tears away I laughed and thought about eight kids but no keys.

There were levels to Mary E. Bond.
The representation that Momma Bond served for me is mind blowing.

Momma Bond role is iconic in our lives because she didn’t have keys, she never drove but raised grandma great grands great great grands and village babies.
Momma Bond was transparent, vulnerable, unapologetic and intentional in how she moved and what she said.

Talking about the embodiment of women liberation, women empowerment, women leadership and women professionalism, that was all Momma Bond.

Momma Bond stood tall, proud, confident in what she produced, confidence in Daddy Bond leadership, her wisdom, wit and ways were worth sitting under her tree of knowledge.

A woman, dark skinned, bold, cornrows rocking, conscious Black woman not only take up space with assurance, on the stage of life, Mary E. Bond played the role until the end. Even transition was something she scripted, as she faded in and out she would call out names, or call us the wrong names and that was to say GET THEM HERE to her or FaceTime her quick.

Who can do this like Mary E. Bond who never had keys.

“Do not grieve when something good ends, be glad that it happened.” Jeffrey Fry

Momma Bond didn’t have keys to drive but she left us keys to live and still got around everywhere.so we have no excuse.today.
