“Black women were America’s first doctors: they called them mid-wives to downplay the truth but Black women were were America’s first doctors long before hospitals let us in. Black women were lactation specialist (coined as LIQUID GOLD), delivering babies, curing disease, setting bones and saving lives with nothing but herbs, instinct, and centuries of African knowledge passed down during slavery.  These women were called: Granny Mid-wives but don’t get it twisted, that title was used to strip them of their credit they deserved.  They weren’t assistants. They were the doctors.  While white men were experimenting on us without anesthesia, Black women were healing their own communities after slavery.  Women like Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman to earn a M.D. and Matilda Evans the first Black woman in South Carolina built clinics and hospitals from scratch but even then, society tried to erase their titles they called nurses, midwives, helpers.  Why? Because they didn’t want the world to know that Black women built the foundation of American medicine.  Even today, when a Black woman walks into a hospital with credentials, she still gets questioned, still gets dismissed, still gets called by the wrong title but the truth? We were were never just midwives, we were surgeons, physicians, healers, and we still are.” Roots Uncovered

I am from a GRADE A lineage.

“Black teachers are texts themselves, but these teachers’ text pages are inundated with life experiences and histories of racism, sexism, and oppression, along with those of strength, perseverance and success. Consequently, these teachers’ texts are rich and empowering-they have the potential to help students understand the world and to change it.” H. Richard Milner, IV

“Black teachers have this collective experiences & historical memory to articulate to Black children and others what and why to help the navigate this society in ways that empower them not to accept the society that will be passed to them.” Rann Miller

BLACK educators have always been GRADE A. It is NOT normal that our children are this violent, disengaged, disrespectful and malicious.

What is the root? IT IS IN EDUCATION. Black teachers understand that we not only teach academics but civil, manners and we pick up where home should have. We equip our future to be civil, lawful and assets and it appears this is NOT what education is about today.

BLACK EDUCATORS UNDERSTAND THAT:

When we exude pride

When we exude confidence

When we exude our reality

When we exude truth

When we exude high self esteem

When we exude dominance

When we exude Joy

When we exude clarity

When we exude ownership

When we exude competence

When we exude mental strength

When we exude know how

When we exude know when

When we exude know what

When we achieve

When we advance

When…….

Yet, it is For a check, I must see the opposite of those things.

To feed our family

To maintain employment

WE ARE EXPECTED TO DO THE UNTHINKABLE, IMMORAL, UNJUST, UNETHICAL AND THINGS THAT WE KNOW IS FAILING, HURTING AND DESTORYING OUR FUTURE AND IT SHOULD END.

WHAT IS GOING ON WITHIN OUR COMMUNITIES, THE THOUGHTLESS DECISIONS OUR CHILDREN ARE MAKING IS A DIRECT CORRELATION OF WHAT IS NOT GOING ON WITHIN OUR SCHOOLS AND THAT IS EDUCATION, CRITICAL THINKING AND ACCOUNTABILITY.

“There is a lot of money to be made from miseducation, from the easy to read easy to learn textbooks, workbooks, teacher manuals, educational games and visual aids. The textbook business is more than a billion-dollar-a-year industry and some of its biggest profits come from ‘audio-visual aids’ – flash cards, tape cassettes, and filmstrips. No wonder the education industry encourages schools to focus on surface education.” Marva Collins

“A society is measured by the progress of its women.” Malcolm X

Since it was raining

Since water is indeed needed (majority of the time) to break before life comes forth

Since water makes up a large percentage of our body

Since water is sacred

Since water is our source and resource

Since water is cleansing

Since water binds us

Since Noah’s obedience eventually paid off

Since water blesses us

Since the bust is majority BLACK WOMEN and we all know that we have a proven track record to of course not be a monolith but diversified, invaluable, coveted, preferred, plentiful, innately gifted, worldly influential, inspirational, motivating, encouraging, highly skilled, innately gifted and overly confident

Since God is so HE LARRY US, I AM HERE ON THE WAY TO THE ARK.

“The ARC of the Moral Universe is Long, But it Bends Toward Justice.” Dr. Martin Luther King

As we head to the church to board the bus, rain is pouring down and it reminded me of the story in the Bible where God allowed it to rain for forty days and forty nights………

THAT is some kind of raining, right?

Was it flooding?

Were people trapped?

Did people unjustly die?

Were houses submersed?

Water is synonymous to living and life.

I am reminded of my mom, she had  a “green thumb” and she also loved her fish tank. We had plants all over  and she would get chat, rocks, bricks and other fixtures to beautify our dwelling place, front yard. The fish tank did what it do and the cleaning of it was not something to look forward to but it had to be done. These things were clearly NOT understood or appreciated, UNTIL NOW.

On the bus, we have a beautiful collage of women. Black woman knitting and I just found out that she is with the High Five Fridays.

We have a group of multi talented and multifaceted women who hold honorary titles such as artisans, bankers, educators, creatives, innovators, entrepreneurs, seamstress, milliners, healers, knitters, linguists, writers, beauticians,  athletes, educators, chauffeur, scholars, coaches and homemakers. Together on one bus we are an exemplary group.

“When BLACK women UNIFY, we advance us all economically, socially, spiritually, politically emotionally, financially and culturally.

An ARC is a curvature shape…..

An ARK is a boat that has an oblong shape

An ARCH is a symmetrical curved shape

An ARK is a vessel, God told Noah to build it to cover, protect, shield, a e the evidence of his faith in God.

An architect is one who builds buildings or an ARTIST of different genres. ARCHITECTURE is historical, funny, coveted, glass, revered, sacred, cemented, brick and stone buildings and those who take nothing but have the finished product is saluted as an architect.

Noah was one who BUILT so that we would understand those who had unwavering FAITH, CHARACTER, LIVES, MINDS, CONFIDENCE, SELF ESTEEM, COMMUNITIES and simply put; THE LOVE OF GOD TO KNOW THAT HE WILL NEVER LEAVE NOR FORSAKE US.

NOAH DIDN’T HAVE TO SEE THE RAIN AND FLOODS, ALL HE HAD TO DO IS BE OBEDIENT TO THE WILL, DIRECTIVE, COMMAND AND WORD OF GOD.

NOT ALL CAN SEE WHAT GOD HAS COMMANDED YOU TO DO, TOLD YOU TO DO OR INSTRUCTED YOU TO DO, BUT IT WOULD BEHOOVE YOU TO OBEY HIS ORDERS AND COMMAND.

NOAH CONNECTED WITH THE SPIRIT AND SOUL OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD.

PEOPLE WHO HAVE FOUND THEMSELVES ON THIS LIFE JOURNEY ARE VARIED, POLY, AND MULTI AND YET WE ARE CONGREGATED ON THIS BUS HEADING TO THE SAME PLACE: THE ARK!

WE ARE WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN FRAGMENTED, SHATTERED, BROKEN AND BRUISED, GRIEVED, DISAPPOINTED AND YET WE EMBARKED ON A BUS TO HEAD TO THE ARK.

NO MATTER IF WE CRAWLED, WHEELED, WOBBLED, CLUNG OR SCOOTED, WE FOUND OUR WAY IN ORDER TO EXPERIENCE GOD’S ORDER FOR NOAH’S ARCHITECTURAL SKILLS TO BEGIN TO WORK AND INDEED WORK IT SHALL DO.

Before a building is erected, the first thing that happens is a LOCATION.

The second phase of a building being erected is the SYMBOLIC GROUND BREAKING ceremony where dignitaries, community members and leaders, and public servants gather in HARD HATS as an outward sign of READINESS.

A foundation is laid, ground is tilled and roughness is smoothed out in order to get the project READY.
BRICK BY BRICK the construction begins, geometrical shape begin to take its formation and the beautiful architect becomes clear.
WE WOMEN SHOULD LEAVE KNOWING THAT WE ARE THE TABLE AND THE BAG AND WE NEED TO START BUILDING TOGETHER.
WE WOMEN NEED TO LEAVE KNOWING THAT WE WILL PROPEL OUR PEOPLE FORWARD BECAUSE WE ARE THE HANDS THAT ROCK THE CRADLE AND FORM CIVILIZATION.
WE WOMEN ARE THE BOWS AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND OBLIGATION TO TAKE THE ARROWS AND  PULL THEM BACK IN AND REPOSITION THEM TOWARDS GOODNESS AND  GREATNESS.

WITH THE WEALTH, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERTISE, EXPOSURE AND EDUCATION UPON THIS BUS, WE SHOULD PASS THE LEMONS ON AND CREATE LEMONADE AND CATCH THE BRICKS THROWN AND BRICK BY BRICK, NO MATTER WHAT STORMS, TORNADOES, HEAVY TORENTIAL RAINS COMES, NO MATTER WHAT LIFE SLING AND HAVE SLUNG US, THEY WERE ALL IN THE PLAN AND PREDESTINED IN ORDER FOR US TO PUT THEM IN PROPER PLACE AND PERSPECTIVE SO WE COULD BUILD OUR ARK, ARC AND ARCH, BRICK BY BRICK.

WE WOMEN SHOULD ALWAYS PASS EACH OTHER A BRICK AND ASSIST OUR SISTERS ALONG THIS JOURNEY AS THEY TAKE NOTHING AND CREATE TRANSFORMATION, SEE NOTHING AND MAGIC APPEARS, TAKE THEIR LIFE AND LASSO EXCEPTIONALISM, BEAUTY, AND LASTLY TAKE HER HANDS AND LIFE ALL AROUND SINCE WE ARE THE ARCHITECTS OF LIFE AND LIVING.

BRICK BY BRICK, WHAT LIFE SLING US, WE NEED TO CHEER US ON AS WE BUILD OUR SURE AND SOLID FOUNDATION AND PLACE THE STEEPLE AT THE TOP OF OUR SACRED LIVES, BRICK BY BRICK.

We love to act like BLACK WOMEN is centered in these conversations around justice, education, liberation, and progression while simultaneously being erased from the narrative of our own plight. We need to get back to where we have allowed ourself from being ventured off: REstudy, REclaim, REname, REmake, REinvent, REbrand, REeducate, REframe, REdedicate, REmember, REwork, REbuild, RElove, REadmire, RElearn, REcall, REvitalize, REsist, REwire, REbel, REsilience, REvolutionize, REimagine, REeducate and we all know that RE means AGAIN.
