Haitians Lost Temporary Protected Status. Is Ghana the Answer?

Haitians in the United States are facing a serious immigration crisis after Temporary Protected Status, also known as TPS, was terminated for Haiti. TPS has allowed hundreds of thousands of Haitians to legally live and work in the U.S., but with the latest Supreme Court decision allowing the government to move forward with ending protections, many Haitian families are now facing uncertainty, fear, and possible deportation.

In this video, I’m asking a bigger question: should Ghana step in? Ghana has positioned itself as a major gateway for the African diaspora through initiatives like Year of Return, Beyond the Return, and Right of Abode for people of African descent in the diaspora. If Ghana truly wants to be a spiritual and political home for the global African family, this may be the moment to prove it.

This is not just about immigration. This is about Pan-Africanism, Haiti’s historic role as the first Black republic, African solidarity, diaspora return, and whether African nations can create real pathways for displaced Black people across the world.

Through Danfo, our travel brand, we curate experiences that connect the diaspora to Africa through culture, history, and real-life engagement across the continent. Learn more at danfo.africa.

Watch, comment, and let me know: should Ghana open a pathway for Haitians impacted by TPS?
