Soooo you mean to tell me that someone down your ancestry line survived being chained to other human bodies for several months in the bottom of a disease-infested ship during the Middle Passage, lost their language, customs and traditions, picked up the English language as best they could while working free of charge from sunup to sundown as they watched babies sold from out of their arms and women raped by ruthless slave owners.
Took names with no last names, no birth certificates, no heritage of any kind, braved the Underground Railroad, survived the Civil War to enter into sharecropping…
Learned to read and write out of sheer will and determination, faced the burning crosses of the KKK, averted their eyes at the Black bodies swinging from ropes hung on trees…
Fought in World Wars as soldiers to return to America as boys, marched in Birmingham, hosed in Selma, jailed in Wilmington, assassinated in Memphis, segregated in the South, ghettoed in the North, ignored in history books, stereotyped in Hollywood…
and in spite of it all someone in your family line endured every era to make sure you would get here and you receive one rejection, face one obstacle, lose one friend, get overlooked, and you want to quit? How dare you entertain the very thought of quitting. People you will never know survived from generation to generation so you could succeed. Don’t you dare let them down!!

OUR PROCCESSING ABILITY MADE US INSPIRED, EMPOWERED, AND ENCOURAGED TO BE, DO, INVENT AND CREATE GREATER AND BETTER
OUR COMMUNITY ASSURED US THAT WE WERE NEVER ALONE AND TODAY WHITES HAVE YOU PROUD OF BEING ISOLATED, CUTTING OFF FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND HAVING THE “SELFIE” MINDSET?”
OUR ELDERS AND COMMUNITY MADE SURE THAT WE WERE LOVED, NEEDED, UNDERSTOOD AND CHERISHED AND VITAL TO THE PUZLLE OF OUR PEOPLE
OUR ELDERS TOOK US OUT OF THE DREAM, IMAGINARY, AND FAKEWORLD AND MADE SURE WE HAD TRUTH, REALITY, AND AUTHENTICITY TO FACE IT AND UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS NEVER ABOUT US AND OURS BUT THEM AND THEIRS AND SO WE BECAME EXCEPTIONAL, EXCELLENT, BRILLIANT, BOLD, EMPOWERED, MASTERS, SUPERIOR, SUPREME AND SACRED
OUR ELDERS ASSURED US THAT WE KNEW AND UNDERSTOOD THAT WE WERE DIFFERENT IN A PLETHORA WAYS AND THAT IS WHAT MADE US BEAUTIFUL, DISTINCTIVE, AND SPECIAL AND THAT GOD MADE NO MISTAKE IN MAKING US, WE HAD DIFFERENT SMILES, DIFFERENT, SHADES, DIFFERENT HEIGHT, DIFFERENT WEIGHT, DIFFERENT EYES, DIFFERENT HAIR TEXTURES AND DIFFERENT ABILITIES AND WE ALL HAD SOMETHING GREAT TO ADD TO SOCIETY AND TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE OUR ELDERS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE BURDEN WE CARRIED WASN’T OURS BUT LEGISLATED AND IT WAS A JOY THEY DIDN’T GIVE OR COULD TAKE IT AWAY THAT MADE US RADY FOR BATTLE BECAUSE IT WASN’T NATURAL
OUR ELDERS UNDERSTOOD WE HAD INNATE GIFTS, SKILLS, TALENTS AND PASSIONS AND DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO BRING IT OUT; THEY WERE OUR AUTHENTIC EDUCATORS, THEY DEMANDED EXCEPTIONALISM, GRACE, DIGNITY, ARTICULATION, AND THE GRADE A STATUS THAT IS WITHIN OUR DNA AND TRADITION, AND PEOPLE OUR ELDERS MADE SURE THAT WE UNDERSTOOD THAT WE HAD TO WORK HARD, WE WERE BLESSED, NO ONE WAS OBLIGATED, WE HAD TO BE CONSIDERATE, COMPASSIONATE, EMPATHETIC, SYMPATHETIC AND HUMANE TOWARDS THOSE WHO NEEDED AND DIDN’T NEED IT OUR ELDERS DIDN’T ALLOW US TO COMPARE OURSELVES TO OTHERS BECAUSE THEY KNEW WE WERE TOP NOTCH, ABOVE THE EXPECTED, SUPERIOR, COMPETENT AND SHOULD GIVE OUR BEST IN ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING WE SET OUT TO ACCOMPLISH AND NEVER GIVE UP OR GIVE IN OUR ELDERS WERE EVERYTHING WE NEEDED BECAUSE THEY LIVED LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF US AND KNEW THE ROPES, WAYS, AND MAZE AND EQUIPPED US MENTALLY OUR CHILDREN WHO ARE OUT HERE WILDING OUT, KILLING THEMSELVES, KILLING OTHERS IS SO NOT WHO WE ARE AS A BLACK PEOPLE, IT IS NOT
