Jennifer Lewis went on a full pro-black, anti-Trump, white-supremacy-is-coming diatribe on camera, then sat right next to her white liberal friend like there was no contradiction at all. The Angryman asks the question nobody in that room would: if you spend your whole platform calling white people devils and oppressors, why does your white friend never once get asked how she feels about it? That’s the same hypocrisy as the white guy who trashes black people and hides behind “but I have a black friend.” The Angryman holds one standard for everybody, and that standard runs straight through the loyalty test: if you’re black and you sit there while your non-black friend goes in on black people and you say nothing, your silence already chose a side. We get into how black Hollywood got co-opted to perform politics, how these actors are bought and paid for, how Black America does not actually live according to black Hollywood, and the difference between Bill Cosby quietly doing the work and a celebrity preaching to a camera for applause. This isn’t about who anybody can be friends with — it’s about consistency, because the loudest voices about loyalty are the first ones to fold when it actually counts, and the people who scream loudest about the community are usually performing for everybody except the community.
